Buildmytest Application – A Case Study

TE21, an education company headquartered in Charleston, SC, came to edtech systems for help in developing a branded, hosted program for their Common Core item bank. The company had developed a robust item bank of Common Core questions and wanted to deliver it on an accessible, high-performance platform with test building tools, analytics and reporting.

Project Timeline

The project design meetings began in April 2011 to gather the requirements for supporting the item bank on the buildmytest® platform. Less than six months later, TE21 released the program to schools with their own custom portal, online item bank and buildmytest dashboard and teacher tools. Content updates and new design features were released in Summer 2012 and Spring 2013. The item bank now includes more than 18,000 Common Core questions and the product is slated for more new features in the 2013-14 school year.

“Now, with more than 20,000 teachers and over 700,000 students using our item banks for classroom assessment and state benchmarking, we can provide premium content with test-building tools and instructional data that are critical for teaching and learning. In fact, we were recently recognized with the eSchool News 2013 Readers’ Choice Award for best technology product, which is a great testament to how much educators love the buildmytest platform.”
